Times Flies…

A-HA! Yep, that’s me. With a big old cross Doing my best Alan Partridge impression.

I wrote a play about two Christians trying to bring Jesus back from the dead by crucifying someone. Three years ago we put it on and the response was great.

I hope to do it in front of a live audience again someday. The experience was amazing. Genuinely one of the things I’ve written that I love - and the cast always have me in hysterics.

Whenever I write something, particular comedy, I try to write in part as a homage or a love letter to comedy I love. For this, Monty Python’s Life of Brian was a huge inspiration as was Ricky Gervais - in particular his bold, swing for the fences, don’t care, hilarious style.

Fun little story from the night of the show. The play is largely looking at religious zealots - and we had one in attendance on the night of the show, despite trying to put him off coming. Anyway, I remember being properly scared that he was going to kick off mid show.

Thankfully he didn’t kick off. But unfortunately he did present me with my first “gift from an audience member” that I’ll never forget. A used, worn, sweaty t-shirt with a picture of Mary on it, praying. It was mad. What a night and that moment just topped it off. 3 years. Wow.
