The Watercooler Review: The Meg (2018)
A big blockbuster B movie with a bundle of thrills, fun, dumb, edge of the seat action that will have you paddling your feet along with The Stath.
A likeable bunch of characters, and a script sprinkled through with quips and humour. Doesn't take itself too seriously, but takes itself seriously at the right points.
It is exactly what you want it to be; a popcorn movie about a big fuck-off shark and some utterly crazy set pieces.
A few moments don’t land exactly where the filmmakers may have intended, including what feels like a slightly jammed in romantic subplot and a few ‘emotional’ moments between characters but overall, it’s worth watching because it is a lot of fun.
Roll on the Ben Wheatley directed sequel.
